Warm up tonight with this unique brandy and wine based cocktail. 






  • 1 ounce Calvados (apple brandy)
  • 1.5 ounce Rioja wine
  • 3 ounce water
  • 1/2 ounce Cinnamon Syrup – recipe/instruction below
  • 1/4 ounce lemon juice

How to prepare Francophile Cocktail:

First, we need to make the cinnamon syrup.  For the syrup you would need:

  • 2 – 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 ounce of water
  • 1/2 ounce sugar

Break the cinnamon sticks into pieces first and put them with water and sugar into a small pan..  Boil it up over high heat.  Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for couple of minutes. Take it out of the heat, cover it and leave it for six hours or more.  Strain it into a container and store in refrigerator.

Now that you have your cinnamon syrup, you can pour all the ingredients into a small saucepan.  Cook over medium heat till it’s hot.  Pour it into a mug and you can serve it with apple slice or cinnamon stick as garnish.
